5 Types of Yoga & Their Benefits
Yoga has become an integral part of human life due to various types of reasons. It is being long practiced in order to provide proper balance between the mind, body and the soul. People are now becoming very alert about the various Yoga poses in order to stay fit and to increase their efficiency. There are various types of yoga available that must be known in order to select the best option. Very few people are actually aware of the Yoga and its benefits. 1. Anusara Yoga & Their Benefits:
Anusara yoga is one of the most widely used forms of yoga nowadays. Founded in the year 1997, Anusara yoga poses had been first created by Steve Friend, an American Yogi. Using its headquarters in Teasx, Anusara yoga teacher instruction is now available all over the United States of America.

2. Kundalini Yoga & Their Benefits:
Kundalini is one of the oldest forms of yoga – it has been practiced by the Upanishads in India since 500 B.C. Mastering the practice at sixteen, Yogi Bhajan brought Kundalini to the West in 1969. Initially, it was never taught publicly until Bhajan challenged its secrecy and taught Kundalini openly to the public and consequently established the 3HO, which stands for “Healthy, Happy, Holy Organization.”
Kundalini literally means “coiled” and is represented by a metaphorical coiled snake at the base of your spine. The purpose of Kundalini practice is to uncoil your snake and release that energy within. Health, strength, fitness and overall happiness benefits are included.
3. Vinyasa Yoga & Their Benefits:
Vinyasa Yoga is more dynamic than a Hatha Yoga class which is concentrated more on static poses usually held for a longer period of time. Practicing only static poses does not reveal the incredible potential of asanas to be explored when linked in Vinyasa. When you practice a sequence of asanas you link them with conscious breathing. As stated by David Life and Sharon Gannon in their book ‘Jivamutki Yoga’ at page 144: “The real Vinyasa, or link, however, is the intention with which you practice the asanas. It is the intention that links the postures with consciousness instead of unconsciousness.”
Any form of Yoga will provide physical benefits including improved balance and flexibility. Vinyasa Yoga in addition will increase your stamina and endurance. This occurs through the dynamic movements that increase the heart rate and develop muscle tone and strength. Increased muscle strength around joints helps to support the joint under pressure. Improved strength and flexibility reduces the risk of injury, or re-injury. Another benefit is the improvement of immunity and of course a sense of well-being that spreads into your daily life.
4. Bikram Yoga & Their Benefits:
This type of yoga was developed by Bikram Choudhury from the traditional hatha yoga. It started to get popular in the 1970s. Bikram Yoga contains 26 poses (asanas) and two breathing exercises. This type of yoga is popular due to a big difference between it and other traditional yoga practices. Bikram yoga is practiced in heated rooms. These rooms should be heated to about 40 C or 104 F. This aspect made Bikram yoga to become popular as “Hot Yoga”.

5. Hatha Yoga & Their Benefits:
Hatha yoga originated in India more than 5000 years ago. This system of exercise focuses not only on the health of the body, but also of the mind and spirit. Hatha yoga involves a lot of asanas, or postures, where you need to hold the body in certain positions for a specific period of time. Hatha yoga has several branches including Iyengar yoga, Kriya yoga, Ashtanga yoga, Bikram yoga and Vini yoga. Some asanas focus on improving flexibility while others develop strength and balance in the body. An important part of hastha yoga is controlling and regulating your breathing pattern, which is also known as pranayama.
The physical benefits of hatha yoga have been acknowledged by many people all over the world. Practicing the various postures, stretching your body and regulating your breathing brings with it several benefits for your body. Hatha yoga goes a long way in relaxing the mind, and makes it strong enough to fight stress. You are able to concentrate and focus better and you’ll find yourself becoming a calmer and less agitated person. It increases one’s awareness about the body and clears the mind of all kinds of negativity.
