Bloating is a sensation that makes the abdomen feel larger than normal. The abdomen doesn’t get physically bigger until its volume increases by one quart, so the bloated feeling may occur, but the abdomen is not distended. Intestinal gas may cause the feeling of bloating.


How to Reduce Stomach Bloating

Causes of Stomach Bloating:

Some of the common causes of bloating and gas are as follows:

  • Swallowing air
  • Eating in a hurry
  • Constipation
  • Acid reflux
  • Menstruation
  • Giardiasis
  • Use of certain medication
  • Use of sugar substitutes

Coconut Water:

Coconut water is a real healer. It’s refreshing and an excellent substitute for a sugar based energy drink. It’s rich in potassium which helps counter sodium-induced bloating. Coconut water not only flushes the sodium out of the body but also regulates the cleansing process.

Drink Tea:

Drinking ginger, peppermint, or fennel tea, or taking one of these herbs in supplement form can help dispel gas and calm your digestive system.

Drink Water with Lemon:

Lemon water is a great bloating remedy because lemon juice is a natural diuretic. Sometimes, your body holds on to excess water when you consume too much sodium because it thinks you’re dehydrated. (These are sneaky ways you’re making yourself dehydrated.) Combat this by flushing out fluid with plenty of water to reduce a bloated stomach.

Fennel Seeds:

These seeds are very beneficial for treating digestive problems such as bloating thanks to their diuretic, carminative, anti-microbial and pain-reducing properties. Applying fennel seeds will help you relax muscle spasms in your digestive tract, leading to reducing your bloated stomach condition. There are 2 simple ways to apply fennel seeds for treating bloated stomach

  • Firstly, you can chew some fennel seeds after your big meals.
  • Secondly, you can add 1 tsp of fennel seeds into 1 cup of the hot water.
  • Then you cover
  • Then you let it steep for about 5 to 10 minutes.
  • You strain it.
  • Next, you drink this fennel seed tea 2 or 3 times per day for a few days to get the best results.

Coriander:

Coriander helps in treating indigestion, settling the stomach and burning sensation of gas.

Add some roasted coriander seeds to a cup of butter milk and drink it.
You can add 1 teaspoon of dried coriander leaves to a cup of boiling water. Cover and let it steep for few minutes. Strain and drink this tea to get relief from gas quickly. If you are experiencing excessive gas problem, then increase the quantity to 1 glass instead of a cup.

Garlic:

Garlic excites the gastric flames which eases the stomach gas. Drink garlic soup to fight assimilation and decrease gas. It is better to use fresh garlic for effective results.

  • Add some garlic into a cup of water.
  • Bring the mixture to boil.
  • Add some black pepper and cumin seeds into it.
  • Simmer for few minutes and remove from the flame.
  • Strain and let it cool down to room temperature.
  • Consume it for few times in a day.

Note: Drink this soup everyday to avoid gas and bloating problems.

Apple Cider Vinegar:

The health benefits of apple cider vinegar (ACV) are well known and it is nature’s answer to all gastrointestinal problems. Apple cider vinegar improves the production and release of digestive enzymes and acids that help in breaking down foods in the intestine. Therefore, it is best to consume ACV at least 15 to 30 minutes before having a heavy or spicy meal. Acetic, lactic, isobutryic and propionic acid present in apple cider vinegar also improves digestive health by preventing the growth of harmful microorganisms and yeasts in the gut.

Mix 2 tablespoons of organic apple cider vinegar in a glass of warm water and slowly sip it 30 minutes before meals to prevent indigestion, gas, bloating and flatulence.
